Second Stage Amherst has been awarded a $10,000 grant to fund a new outreach program.

The Centra Foundation awarded the grant to help Second Stage Amherst fund their new “Second Helpings” program.

The money will be used to purchase fresh foods from vendors at the Second Street Farmers’ Market at the end of each market on Thursday afternoons. The food will then be distributed to people who would otherwise not be able to access fresh foods through partnerships with Blue Ledge Meals on Wheels, Neighbors Helping Neighbors and the Pleasant View Food Pantry.

In celebration of this new program, Second Stage has renamed the weekly farmers’ market to Market @ Second Stage.

More information about Second Stage Amherst and the Market @ Second Stage can be found at www.secondstageamherst.org.
