The Roanoke County School Board met Wednesday to review the construction plans for renovating Cave Spring High School.
The school board did not reach a decision during Wednesday’s meeting but did reveal three new bids for consideration, including Avis Construction Co. at $33,330,000, Charles Perry Partners at $35,970,000 and G&H Contracting at $34,265,000.
Jason Moretz, Chairman of the School Board said at Wednesday’s meeting that Avis is pretty confident about their bid at $33,330,000. It’s slightly higher than the current $31-million construction budget. Moretz says he wants the Cave Spring community to know, the finished renovations will make them very proud to stand behind.
Meretz says the scope of the project will no longer include a raised gym roof because of cost. He says new and improved classrooms are a priority for the school at this time.

“I join the entire board in thanking all the companies that submitted bids and we especially thank the staff at Cave Spring High School for their patience and dedication,” Wray said.
The next board meeting will be Thursday, September 27 at 6 p.m.
