A sailor was killed in a mishap Monday evening on USS George H.W. Bush, Navy officials say.
Officials said the incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. on the flight deck of the Bush. No other sailors were injured, and the cause is under investigation.
CDR Dave Hecht with Naval Air Force Atlantic Public Affairs confirmed the ship was conducting routing flight operations at the time.
The sailor’s name and additional details on what happened will not be released until 24 hours after family members have been notified, officials said.
