ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Saturday was a big day for wing fans. It was the 12th annual Roanoke Wing Fest at Dr. Pepper Park.
The temperature outside was just as hot as some of the wings that folks enjoyed but it was bittersweet for many, including Buddy Hancock of Buddy’s BBQ, who was among those serving up wings at the event.
“Last year was so limited, we just didn’t see it happen. It was kind of sad for us but this year the energy is great…Barbecue is a good take-out item and it really helps with the dining rooms now,” said Hancock. “We were able to do a lot of take-out food. We actually moved from a 35-seat restaurant to an old Hardee’s to 212 seats.”
Hancock says he is excited to serve his food to the community and at Wing Fest.
