UPDATE: Wednesday morning crash cleared along Wirtz Road in Franklin County

UPDATE 9:49 a.m.: VDOT has removed the crash that closed down Wirtz Road Wednesday morning from its online traffic map, which means the scene of this Franklin County crash has been cleared.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A vehicle crash has closed down Wirtz Road Wednesday morning, which may cause some delays for Franklin County commuters.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), all eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 697 (Wirtz Road) near Alean Road and Route 687.

Even though VDOT has not provided an estimate of the traffic backup at this time, the department says motorists can expect delays.
