ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Most public school students in Roanoke are set to have one asynchronous learning day this week, but students at Wasena Elementary School will have two.
Roanoke City Public Schools says there will be a planned power outage in the area around Wasena Elementary on Thursday, Dec. 16.
As a result, Wasena Elementary will have a “virtual, on-demand, (asynchronous) learning day” on Thursday, which means that students will not report to school but will need to complete their assignments at their own pace, according to the district.
School officials say that there is also a asynchronous learning day scheduled for Friday, Dec. 17 at all public schools in Roanoke.
Students are required to complete all assignments before they return from winter break on Jan. 3, 2022, the district says.
