ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke Police say an individual struck two police cars in an attempt to escape being taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police on the scene, the incident began in the 3800 block of Rolling Hill Avenue NW at 3:55 p.m. as they were attempting to arrest a wanted person.

They say that person attempted to escape in a vehicle and ended up backing into a police car. That person, who police are not identifying at this time, drove away from the scene.

Officers began to pursue that vehicle. A short time later, the vehicle stopped in the 2700 block of the Salem Turnpike NW, collided with another police car, and ran away.

The person was quickly taken into custody in the 2700 block of Centre Avenue NW.

They say the individual is wanted for several felonies and is a suspect in another crime.
