BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A teenage boy is dead after being ejected from a car during a Friday night crash in Botetourt County.
According to Virginia State Police, the single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 10:09 p.m. on Friday, May 7 on Route 11, just north of Wells Lane.
Police say a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro was heading north on Route 11 when the driver lost control. The vehicle then ran off the right side of the road, struck an embankment, overturned multiple times, and ejected the driver.
The driver of the Chevrolet — identified by authorities as 19-year-old Christopher Dowell Nininger of Troutville — was not wearing his seatbelt and was brought to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
Virginia State Police say speed was a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
