ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Volunteers are set to gather at the Old Lick Cemetery in Roanoke Wednesday morning to clean the area.
According to the Virginia Museum of Transportation’s website, volunteers will clean the trash and brush to make it easier for students to safely visit the tombstones for social studies opportunities and service projects.
In addition, volunteers and students will gather information on the tombstones and map locations for the archives at the Harrison Museum of African American Culture and the First Baptist Church in Gainsboro.
This cleanup event is scheduled to take place at the Old Lick Cemetery from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7.
