ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – A Roanoke man has won the top prize on a Virginia Lottery scratcher.

According to the Virginia Lottery, Donald Harris walked into the Food Giant located at 509 24th Street NW in Roanoke. While inside, he purchased a Power 10s scratcher ticket.

It ended up being a $1 million winner.

Power 10s is one of dozens of scratchers offered from the Virginia Lottery. It features prizes ranging from $10 to $1 million.

The Virginia Lottery says there are still two unclaimed $1 million winning tickets for this game.

Harris’ $1 million win forced him to make a decision — whether to take the full prize over 30 annual payments or the one-time cash option of $640,205 before taxes.

He selected the cash option, which, he says, will go into his retirement account.

The Food Giant store that sold the winning ticket will also receive $10,000.
