ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Multiple roads will be affected as the 2022 USA Cycling Amateur Road National Championships wrap up with the criterium race this weekend.

The championships began earlier this week on Tuesday, June 28, and will conclude Saturday, July 2 with a “crit” race — which is a lapped bicycle race on a closed circuit set — downtown. The race begins at 7:30 a.m. and concludes at 7:30 p.m. and is free for the public to watch.

Road closures will begin with First Street at midnight on Saturday while the course is being built. The course building will be completed by 4 a.m.

Residential and monthly parkers of the Church Avenue Garage will not be able to enter or exit the garage due to Church Avenue being closed by the race. Any parkers needing to access their vehicles on Saturday are asked to move their vehicles before 4 a.m. on Saturday to the Gainsboro Garage for no additional cost.

To avoid any parking fees, vehicles must be removed from the Gainsboro Garage no later than 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5.

Other roads affected include 2nd Street, Third Street, Luck Avenue, Franklin Road, and Jefferson Street.
