UPDATE 3/16 at 5:44 P.M.: The Virginia State Police tells WFXR News that the crash that occurred on U.S. 220 in Franklin County, near Bonbrook Mill Road, on Wednesday afternoon involved 14 vehicles.
At this time, it is known that three of the vehicle were commercial motor vehicles and four people were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
There is little information about what led to the crash at this time. WFXR News will update you with information as it is released.

UPDATE 5:13 P.M.: The earlier reported crash on U.S. 220 near Bonbrook Mill Road in Franklin County is now cleared.
The Virginia Department of Transportation has reported that all northbound lanes are open and the detour has been lifted.

UPDATE 3:30 P.M.: Traffic on U.S. 220 in Franklin County on Virgil Goode Highway is currently back up for approximately one mile.
All northbound lanes remain closed and a detour is still in place.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — All northbound traffic is being diverted off U.S. 220 of Virgil Goode Highway in Franklin County near the Bonbrook Mill Road area due to a tractor-trailer crash.
The Virginia Department of Transportation has reported that drivers traveling in this area can expect delays and a detour is in place. All northbound lanes, the south left shoulder, and the left lanes are closed at this time.
All northbound traffic will be detoured off U.S. 220 at the Rocky Mount exit to North Main Street, Grassy Hill Road, and back onto U.S. 220 North.
Drivers are encouraged to seek alternative routes of travel. WFXR News will update this story as details are released.
