Two men taken to hospital after overnight shooting along Williamson Road in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Police were dispatched to the northern part of Roanoke early Sunday morning after a shooting took place along Williamson Road.

According to the Roanoke Police Department, word came in about shots fired in the 3600 block of Williamson Road NW at approximately 3 a.m. on Sunday, May 23.

While officers were heading to the scene, they were notified that at least one person was injured and on the way to the hospital.

Police also responded to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where they were told that two men had arrived via personal transport and were receiving treatment for gunshot wounds. There is no word on the condition of these men at this time.

Meanwhile, officers who responded to the scene did not find any potential suspects and have not made any arrests in the incident.

This shooting remains under investigation.

Note: The Roanoke Police Department originally told WFXR News that the shooting took place on Williamson Road NE instead of Williamson Road NW. The department issued a correction on Monday, May 24.
