ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Police in Roanoke were on a call Monday afternoon in northwest Roanoke when they heard shots being fired and found two male subjects running from the scene, one of whom was holding a firearm.
According to the Roanoke Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Monday, April 26 while the officers were in the 2900 block of Salem Turnpike NW.
When police heard the shots, they tried to catch up with the individuals on foot, but were unable to reach them.
Almost immediately after that foot chase, though, the department learned of a person with a gunshot wound near 30th Street and Salem Turnpike NW.
Officials say other officers responded to that location and found two juvenile males who had been shot. Both victims were reportedly taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries.
According to police, they were ultimately able to locate the two male subjects in a residence in the 600 block of Naho Street NW and take them into custody for questioning
At the time of this writing, authorities say no arrests have been made. This remains an ongoing investigation and officers are working to determine the events leading up to the shooting.
