Two injured after ‘cutting instrument’ used during downtown Roanoke fight, police say

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Two men were hospitalized on Tuesday after one of them decided to use a “cutting instrument” during a fight in downtown Roanoke, police say.

According to Caitlyn Cline with the Roanoke Police Department, its appears there was a fight between two men near Elmwood Park that escalated.

After the two individuals wound up near the intersection of Williamson Road SE and Franklin Road SE, Cline says one of them pulled out a “cutting instrument.”

Both men were reportedly injured during the fight and brought to the hospital for treatment.

Cline tells WFXR News the individuals’ injuries were “overall minor and definitely not life-threatening.”

Officials believe this was an isolated incident and does not pose a danger to the public.
