UPDATE 5:10 p.m. ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the two house fires that occurred early Friday morning were connected, and a person of interest was later found dead at McAffe Knob Trailhead.

Investigators say the fires occurred around 3:30 a.m. and police say two individuals were found dead at McAffe Knob Trailhead around 6 a.m. on May 26. It is unclear which individual was the person of interest in this investigation.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is continuing to investigate the cause of these fires. ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of two house fires that occurred early Friday morning.

According to the Roanoke Fire and EMS Department, around 3:30 a.m. on May 26th, crews were dispatched to a fire on the 800 block of Rorer Avenue SW. A few moments later, firefighters were dispatched again to the second house fire in the 30th block of 14th Street SW. Firefighters say both fires were quickly contained.

At this time, it is unknown if anyone was injured.
