UPDATE 11:58 a.m.: VDOT only tweeted about all lanes being reopened at the scene of the Botetourt County vehicle fire on I-81 South, the department’s online map shows the scene has been cleared.
BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Botetourt County motorists are at a standstill on I-81 South Wednesday morning due to a tractor-trailer fire.
The Botetourt County Department of Fire and EMS says crews are at the scene of the fire at mile marker 166 on I-81, where all southbound lanes are currently closed.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), traffic is currently delayed for at least a mile along I-81 South.
Motorists in Botetourt County are asked to avoid this area of the interstate if at all possible.
