UPDATE: Tractor-trailer fire cleared at Raphine exit of I-81 south

UPDATE 10:45 p.m.: Crews have cleared the scene of a tractor-trailer fire at exit 205 of I-81 south.

Traffic is moving normally around this area.

UPDATE 9:50 p.m.: VDOT says the eastbound lanes of Raphine Road are still closed due to the tractor-trailer fire at exit 205 of I-81.


UPDATE 9:35 p.m.: VDOT is now reporting that a portion of Raphine Road is blocked at the on-ramps of I-81 due to the fire.


UPDATE 9:30 p.m.: Backups are piling up behind a tractor-trailer fire on exit 205 of I-81 south at Raphine.

According to VDOT, backups are reportedly around two miles.

Drives can expect delays even if they are not wanting to use that exit which is currently shut down due to the fire.


ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – A tractor-trailer fire along the exit ramp of I-81 south at mile marker 205 has closed the exit ramp.

VDOT says the fire is at the off-ramp to Raphine.

The ramp is completely closed as crews extinguish the blaze.
