UPDATE 2:05 p.m.: Virginia Department of Transportation officials say the tractor-trailer crash that caused multiple southbound lanes to close on Saturday is cleared.

VDOT says the crash on I-81 South at mile marker 138.7 in Roanoke County is cleared and lanes are open as of 2:04 p.m. on Saturday, July 30.

No update has been provided regarding the northbound crash at mile marker 138.8.

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Saturday drivers are experiencing miles of traffic on I-81 in Roanoke County due to separate tractor-trailer crashes on both sides of the interstate.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) says a tractor-trailer crash at mile marker 138.7 has shut down all southbound lanes and caused at least five miles of traffic backup. There is a detour set up at exit 140.

Meanwhile, on I-81 North, VDOT says an additional tractor-trailer crash at mile marker 138.8 is causing at least two miles of backups, but no lanes are closed.
