UPDATE 11:50 a.m.: VDOT is saying all lanes have re-opened on I-81 south from an earlier tractor-trailer crash south of Buchanan.
According to VDOT, the crash has been cleaned up and traffic is moving normally around this area.
BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – A tractor-trailer crash on I-81 southbound in Botetourt County is creating a mess for commuters.
According to VDOT, the crash is located at mile marker 161.6, south of Buchanan. VDOT says the right shoulder, as well as the onramp to I-81 south at exit 162, is closed due to this crash.
Backups are reported to be approximately 2.5 miles.
Drivers can expect a slow-go in this area, so it may be best to find an alternate route while cleanup efforts continue.
