UPDATE: Tractor-trailer crash cleared on I-81 north in Roanoke County

UPDATE 5:25 p.m.: The crash on I-81 has been cleared and traffic is moving normally around this area.


UPDATE 5:15 p.m.: Backups are starting to lessen behind the tractor-trailer crash along I-81 in Roanoke County.

The crash has been cleared from the northbound shoulder, according to VDOT; however, residual backlogs of around two miles are still being reported.

Drivers can still expect delays if traveling in this area.


UPDATE 4:40 p.m.: Backups continue behind a tractor-trailer crash on I-81 north in Roanoke County.

VDOT says backups are approximately three miles starting at mile marker 135.9 near Glenvar.

The north right shoulder is still closed and drivers can expect delays when traveling in this area while the scene continues to be cleaned up.


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – A tractor-trailer crash on I-81 north is creating long wait times for drivers along a section of the corridor.

According to VDOT, there are approximately 3.5 miles of backlogs behind the crash site which is located at mile marker 135.9 near Glenvar.

The northbound right shoulder is closed.

Drivers can expect significant delays if traveling in this area.
