ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Town of Goshen in Rockbridge County is going to be getting a major upgrade. Thanks in part to Virginia U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, $255,000 in funding has been awarded for Rural Development through the Community Facilities Grant.
The investment will be used to purchase a 1.32-acre parcel of land to fund the construction of a new multi-purpose community center. Residents will no longer need to travel long distances for essential services like health care and senior programs.
The multi-phase project, called Rockbridge Area Health, will include several initiatives, and make resources accessible throughout the area. The new facility will offer medical, dental, and mental health, as well as a substance abuse clinic.
Additionally, local seniors will soon be able to enjoy meal delivery, and exercise & health classes. The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank will also be opening a food pantry with weekly food distributions.
Local exercise and health education classes will also be available to the community through the Rockbridge YMCA.
