SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE, Va. (WFXR) – Wine and lake lovers, get your glasses and be ready to set sail, the wait is finally over. The Smith Mountain Lake Wine Festival is making its return to the Crazy Horse Marina this September.
As the weather continues to impact events throughout the area, organizers of the Smith Mountain Lake Wine Festival have announced that it’s a “rain or shine event” and will go on as scheduled.
However, if you choose not to attend on Saturday, Sept. 23 due to weather conditions, your tickets will be honored on Sunday.
In the meantime, the festival is still gearing up to celebrate award-winning wines around the Commonwealth. Festivalgoers can anticipate seeing vendors, and crafts, enjoying live music, and grabbing a taste from the Beer Garden.
After being canceled in 2020 and 2021, the wildly popular event starts at 11:00 am on September 23rd and 24th. Some of the Virginia region’s award-winning wineries, as well as a host of food vendors, artists, musicians, and a beer garden, will be one site. Organized by new owners, Hook Lines, and Singers, Inc., the proceeds of the event will be going to charity.
“We are looking at choosing one national and seven local charities with an aggressive goal of raising $5,000 to $10,000 for each this year,” Reith said. “We are honored that the SML Chamber is allowing us an amazing opportunity to help those in need.”
Taster tickets, non-taster tickets, or VIP tickets are available for purchase right now and include some special gifts like souvenir SML Wine Festival wine glasses, or the VIP lounge area with hors d’oeurves, beverages, wine, beer, and private VIP bathrooms.
Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, additional tables, and coolers for food and/or picnic baskets.
