ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Elf on the Shelf tradition helps out many parents during the holiday season.
The magical Scout Elves help Santa manage his nice list by keeping an eye on kids and reporting back to Santa each night.
For the first time, Santa’s helpers can be spotted around downtown Roanoke for some scavenger hunt fun.
Fourteen Elves are hiding in downtown stores, and if you find them, you can enter your findings for a chance to win $1,000.
“I think it has been received very well. We’ve got a ton of kids and family coming in. They’re very excited,” said Oliver Wall, manager of Mast General Store. “It’s something that they can do to kind of come together, see the city, see some shops they haven’t been in before, so I think it’s a win-win.”
