Smoke to remain visible for days in parts of Rockbridge County from a now-contained brush fire

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Crews with the Rockbridge County Fire & Rescue Department, as well as the Virginia and U.S. Departments of Forestry spent much of Friday night working to contain a brush fire in Rockbridge County.

The initial call came in around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 30 for a brush fire in Rockbridge Baths.

The fire spread rapidly due to dry conditions and gusty winds.

Around 700 acres has burned but the fire is listed as contained.

Anyone in this area can expect smoke to be visible for a few days due to this fire.

There has been no reports of structural damage due to the blaze.
