UPDATE 2:45 p.m. 4/18/23 ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Police Department reports that a confrontation between the store clerk and a customer led to the shooting that occurred at a 7-Eleven off Grandin Road on April 16th.
The argument occurred between 7-Eleven store clerk Isiah Baldwin and customer Steven Don Crowder regarding a tobacco product purchase. The situation escalated and Baldwin allegedly shot and killed Crowder and then fled the scene.
Baldwin was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled to take place on May 27th.

UPDATE 2:55 p.m. 4/17/23 ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Police Department arrested a man following the shooting that occurred at a 7-Eleven off Grandin Road on April 16th.
20-year-old Isaiah C. Baldwin of Roanoke was believed to be a suspect early on in the investigation, and officers began searching for him throughout the night.
On Monday, Baldwin was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
The Roanoke Police Department is continuing to investigate the crime.

UPDATE: 11:15 a.m. 4/17/23 ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Police Department has officially released new information regarding the shooting that occurred at a 7-Eleven on Grandin Road on April 16th.
According to police, responders arrived at the 7-Eleven on the 1400 block of Grandin Road SW on Sunday to find an adult who was lying unresponsive with what appeared to be a critical gunshot wound. Roanoke Fire-EMS pronounced the man dead on the scene. There was no suspect found at the scene, and no arrest has been made at this time.
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call the Roanoke Police Department at 540-344-8500 or text at 274637, with the text beginning with “RoanokePD”. ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Roanoke City Police say they are investigating a shooting that occurred at a 7-Eleven on Grandin Road on April 16.
There is little information at this time, but WFXR has confirmed that the call came in around 8:50 p.m., Sunday. There was a victim who was taken to the hospital, however, their name and current condition have yet to be released. There is also no word on a suspect.
