Service organizations in Salem team to collect winter accessories for the region’s needy population

Roanoke Valley News

SALEM, Va. (WFXR) — The Rotary Club of Salem is partnering with its Interact and Rotaract Clubs and the Salem Kiwanis Club to collect various winter-related items to donate to Mrs. Dorsey’s Coat Closet.

Items they are asking for include gently-worn coats, hats, gloves, mittens and scarves.

“[Mrs. Dorsey’s] Closet is requesting children’s sizes and X, XX-large adult sizes in particular along with heavy duty coat hangers. All coats should be in good repair, clean and hung on a hanger.”

Danny Halls, Event Chair

If you have items you wish to donate to the cause, you can bring them by the side entrance to the Salem Civic Center on Thursday, Jan. 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Volunteers will be on-hand to pick-up the donated items from your vehicle.

If you do not have any items to donate, they are also accepting cash donations.
