ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Search warrants obtained by WFXR reveal more details in the murder investigation of Cassandra Pizzi, who was killed in March.

On Tuesday, Dec. 15, Roanoke City Police arrested 40-year-old Michael Terry and charged him with second-degree murder in connection to the case.

Search warrants reveal that police tracked Terry to the area of the crime scene through Google data.

According to the warrants, that data returned a phone number that matches Terry’s contact number on the sex offender registry with the Virginia State Police.

Ryan Reilly, the cousin of Pizzi, said he is grateful to learn of an arrest in the case.

“A few months pass, and you’re like, ‘What’s happening?'” said Reilly. “But I never lost faith that this day would come,” he said.

Court records show a hearing in the case is scheduled for Jan. 15, 2021. An attorney for Terry has not yet been named.
