UPDATE: 86-year-old man with dementia found safely after reported missing from Franklin County overnight

UPDATE 9:10 a.m.: The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says 86-year-old Ross Arkell — who was reported missing by a relative overnight — has been located safe and sound.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Authorities in Franklin County are asking for the community’s help to track down an elderly man with dementia after he was reported missing overnight.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, 86-year-old Ross Arkell was reported missing by a family member just before midnight on Tuesday, Aug. 24 after he walked from his residence in the Bay Front Road/Water’s Edge Country Club area of Penhook.

Authorities say Arkell is approximately six feet tall and weighs about 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark brown shirt, a green sweater, a brown hat, khaki pants, and brown shoes.

If you find Arkell or have any information on his whereabouts, you are asked to call the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office immediately at 540-483-3000.
