ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — It looks like the Star City will have to wait another year to enjoy the fun, the food, and the festivities of the Bank of Botetourt Big Lick Oktoberfest.

The celebration was set to return to Roanoke for the first time since 2019 on Saturday, Oct. 9, featuring traditional German-style food, music, and beer, as well as dozens of local vendors and new activities from Virginia Amateur Sports.

However, on Friday, Oct. 8, Big Lick Entertainment announced that the festival would need to be canceled because of impending rain and thunderstorms.

“We… thank Bank of Botetourt, Duncan Acura, Duncan’s Hokie Honda, BMW Roanoke, Duncan Hyundai, Duncan Audi-Audi Roanoke and P.A. Short Distributing for their incredible support of Virginia Amateur Sports their mission and this event,” Big Lick Entertainment wrote on Facebook. “Thank you to all the amazing vendors, food trucks and staff. We hope to see you in 2022.”
