Metal detectors in place for visitors entering the Salem Fair after opening day shooting rattles fair-goers

Roanoke Valley News

SALEM, Va. (WFXR) — As crowds return to the Salem Fair two days after two fair-goers were shot, they can expect to see increased security.

Fair-goers will have to enter the Salem Fair through metal detectors located at the main entrance. Other metal detectors are also scattered along the perimeter of the fair.

The fair is renting these metal detectors from a Texas-based company called Esco Security Consulting.

Payment for the metal detectors is coming from the fair’s own account and not from the City of Salem.
