UPDATE 5:55 p.m.: The multi-vehicle crash that caused resulted in several injuries Wednesday afternoon been cleared on Route 220 in Botetourt County, according to officials. Traffic is said to be moving normally around this area.
UPDATE 5 p.m.: Botetourt County Department of Fire & EMS says that a multi-vehicle crash with entrapment occurred just north of Eagle Rock in Botetourt County just before 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
When crews arrived, they found two patients identified as being in critical condition with a third identified a short time after.
Life-Guard transported one of those injured to the hospital. Another person was taken by ambulance due to bad weather around that area that hindered flight from other helicopter transport agencies.
A dog on the scene was found with a broken leg. That dog was taken to a local veterinarian for care by the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office.
VDOT says all northbound lanes of Route 220 are still shut down in this area. Drivers should continue to avoid this area and find another route.
UPDATE 4 p.m.: The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reports that the southbound lanes of Route 220 just north of Eagle Rock have reopened after an earlier crash; however, northbound lanes are still shut down.
The closure is in the vicinity of Gala Loop Road (Route 622).
BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – A multi-vehicle crash has shut down all lanes of Route 220 north of Eagle Rock in Botetourt County.
According to the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office, Route 220 is closed north and southbound between Eagle Rock and Iron Gate.
Drivers should avoid this area and find another route.
