ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — With just a short video, the Roanoke Valley SPCA has made it to the top 10 in a national competition — but now the shelter needs the community’s help to win thousands of dollars!

In order to enter the “National Rescue Dog Day To the Rescue! Campaign,” the Roanoke Valley SPCA says it submitted a two-minute video about the organization’s history and mission.

As one of only 10 participants selected for the competition, the Roanoke organization has a chance to win up to $10,000 to care for animals that need sheltering, as well as a variety of safety net programs designed to keep people and pets together.

The winner of the competition will then be decided through public voting, which is open until Tuesday, May 10.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for our shelter,” said Denise Hayes, CEO of the Roanoke Valley SPCA. “We have a one in ten chance of winning the top prize of $10,000, which would make a tremendous impact on the lives of the pets we care for — and all it takes is a simple vote!”

All you need to do to cast your vote is follow this link by May 10 and select Roanoke Valley SPCA near the bottom of the page. Voters do not need to enter an email address or any other personal information to vote, but only one vote will be accepted per person.
