Roanoke Star to stay lit Saturday night for Sunday’s Ironman Triathlon

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Sunday is the big day for participants in the Carilion Clinic Ironman 70.3 Virginia’s Blue Ridge Triathlon in Roanoke.

As a special tribute to everyone participating and for all of the tourists in town, city officials have said that the Roanoke Star, which usually goes dark each evening, will stay lit overnight on Saturday, June 5 and will continue to shine until 6 a.m. on Sunday, June 6.

The Roanoke Star is one of the region’s most photographed attractions and the scenic overlook at the base of the star is a popular stop for an incredible view of the city.
