ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Police Department unveiled its new SARA Roanoke patrol vehicle Thursday morning.

SARA Roanoke (Sexual Assault Response and Awareness) is a local non-profit organization that supports survivors of sexual violence through various free, confidential, and voluntary services.

The Roanoke Police Department has existing partnerships with several organizations in the City of Roanoke and features some of their partners on patrol cars. The SARA Roanoke vehicle aims to help raise awareness about sexual violence and highlight SARA Roanoke as a resource for those who need assistance.

The car will be used for daily patrol and special events.

The contact number for the Sexual Assault Crisis Hotline is displayed on the back and sides of the vehicle, along with SARA Roanoke’s website — in order to remind anyone who has experienced sexual assault that help is available by calling (540) 981-9352.
