ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A lawsuit against Roanoke City police officers regarding an incident that left a resident’s home damaged has been settled.

Cathy Reynolds sued the Roanoke Police Department for damaging the front door and siding of her home when searching her property on Sept. 29, 2019.

During that incident, police say they were looking for Ozmeik Clements who was wanted for murder, and who was reportedly seen entering Reynolds’ home. When they arrived, police broke down her front door, damaged the frame, and ripped off the surrounding siding even though the door was unlocked and police were given permission.

On Monday, June 13, the lawsuit was settled and Reynolds was awarded $13,500 for the destruction of her home and personal property.
