Roanoke Police hold special hiring event, citing staffing shortage issues

Roanoke Valley News

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Police Department is looking for more people to join their team as the department experiences shortages, like many businesses are during the pandemic.

The hiring event on Saturday, Oct. 9 gave people a chance to expedite the application process. Attendees could speak with police officers and complete several steps of the hiring process, including a physical test.

Sgt. Ben Masters says it is critical they find more people to join the department.

“We’re no different, but we are hurting. Obviously, we do provide an essential service, and if we are not staffed we can’t provide that service,” explained Masters.

If you are interested in becoming a police officer, you can apply online.
