Police confirm Sunday night shooting that left woman injured in northwest Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Police are investigating a shooting that took place Sunday night in northwest Roanoke and left a woman injured.

The Roanoke Police Department was notified about a person with a gunshot wound at approximately 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 30 in the 1100 block of Orange Avenue NW.

When officers responded to the scene, they found a woman with what, they say, appeared to be a non-life-threatening injury outside of a business. That woman was brought to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital by first responders.

According to the department, the initial investigation indicates the incident did not occur along Orange Avenue. Instead, evidence of a shooting was found in the 600 block of 11th Street NW.

Police say they believe that the incidents in both locations are connected. However, no suspects have been located and no arrests have been made at this time.
