UPDATE: 4/14 ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The Roanoke Police Department has identified the suspect who barricaded himself from police as William Nichols, 53, of Roanoke.

Responders say the incident happened when officers tried to serve a warrant to Nichols, who then refused to come out of his home. Negotiators and chemical agents were used during the incident, and officers were eventually able to get Nichols to surrender.

Nichols has since been served the existing warrants, however, there is no word on whether he will face additional charges.

UPDATE: PM 4/13 ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The Roanoke PD has reported that the standoff has been resolved and the suspect is now in custody.

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke Police are currently on the scene of a barricade situation at a home in Southeast Roanoke and are asking the public to avoid the area until further notice.

According to police, there is currently a heavy police presence at the home of an unidentified man near 16th Street SE and Carlisle Avenue SE. The man allegedly barricaded himself inside and is now refusing to come out after officers attempted to serve him with a warrant.
