ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Police Department (RPD) has launched a homicide investigation after a man was killed in a shooting early Saturday morning.

On June 3 around 2:30 a.m., officers were notified of shots fired in the area near 5th Street and Harrison Avenue NW.

As officers search the area, they located a man unresponsive in a vehicle in the 600 block of Harrison Avenue NW with what appeared to be critical gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, RPD says no suspects are in custody and no arrests have been made.

The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call 540-344-8500. Texts can also be sent to 274637 with the message beginning with “RoanokePD.” Both texts and calls can remain anonymous.
