Roanoke man dies after being ejected from motorcycle along Blue Ridge Parkway

Virginia State Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the motorcycle crash following a police pursuit on New Year's Day.

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A Roanoke motorcyclist died at the hospital over the weekend following a crash along the Blue Ridge Parkway Saturday evening.

According to the National Park Service, at approximately 5:38 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14, a motorcycle traveling north on the Blue Ridge Parkway “left the motor road” near Milepost 171

Officials say the operator — 58-year-old Craig Dickerson of Roanoke — was ejected and seriously injured.

NPS law enforcement rangers, Floyd County Fire and Rescue, and Patrick County EMS were dispatched to the scene.

Dickerson was first brought to Carillion New River Valley Medical Center in Radford via ambulance, but then he was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
