ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – A fire on Sunday night in the Hollins area has members of the Roanoke County Fire Department issuing an alert for residents to check their dryer vents and lint traps to be sure they are kept clean and clear.

“Make sure the air exhaust vent pipe is not restricted and that the outdoor vent flap will open while the dryer is operating. Once a year, clean lint out of that vent pipe or have a service [technician] do it for you. You should clean the lint filter between each load of laundry!”
