Roanoke County 200 Plan to launch this fall

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke County has announced the fall launch of the Roanoke County 200 Plan, what the county is calling a “major update to the Comprehensive Plan.”

Roanoke County citizens may sign up for email blasts to stay in the know about upcoming public input opportunities.

Highlights of the plan include:

  • Expresses an overarching community vision, as well as unique goals for 11 community planning areas within the County as well as the Town of Vinton;
  • Provides guidance for public policies about land development, public services and resource protection; and
  • Allows decision-makers to study the long-term consequences of current decisions and recognize that today’s actions will impact the County for many years to come.

The last update took place in 2005. The Roanoke County 200 Plan is a 15-year plan to mark the County’s bicentennial in 2038. For additional information about Roanoke County’s 200 Plan, click here.
