ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — WFXR News is learning more about the embezzlement charges filed against Roanoke City Councilman Robert Jeffrey, Jr.

Search warrants say Jeffrey is accused of embezzling at least $50,000 from his employer, the Northwest Neighborhood Environmental Organization (NNEO).

The documents also say Jeffrey made unauthorized cash withdrawals from NNEO accounts.

In addition, police searched the councilman’s home on June 28 and found deposit tickets consistent with money taken from the NNEO, according to the warrants.

An attorney speaking for Jeffrey says he’s sure the councilman will be found not guilty.
