ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Envision Center held its grand opening Friday morning, with a ceremonial ribbon cutting at its new location, hosted by the City of Roanoke’s Redevelopment and Housing Authority.
Community leaders and partners came out to celebrate the grand opening and experience the improvements to the facility. They have been working on the renovations for the new facility since the beginning of 2020.
In the new location the Roanoke Envision Center will continue to provide the same resources and services through its community partners, including educational services through Virginia Western, and full time free mental wellness resources through Family Services. Additionally several other resources will be available at the center.
“What we’ve found is when people are getting that mental wellness services, they feel better about themselves. They are more prepared to be successful in their career goals as well, so I think it’s a win win, it’s going to uplift the community” said Gregory Goodman the Director of Community Support Services at City of Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority.
Goodman added that this facility is going to be career focused, which is going to encompass all of the aspects that come with a career goal, including child care, health care, mental wellness, and other services.
Anyone in the community can come and walk into the facility and receive completely free counseling services.
They are still currently located at their central office but they hope to be fully open and functioning at the new facility in the next several weeks.
