ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Break out your light sabers and “May the fourth be with you” because Wednesday is Star Wars Day, a fan-made celebration of this pop culture legend!

The saga started nearly 45 years ago with “Star Wars: A New Hope.” Since then, the movie franchise has made more than $10 billion, making it one of the highest grossing film franchises in the world.

On Wednesday, May 4, WFXR News’ Hazelmarie Anderson was joined by JD Sutphin, co-owner of Big Lick Comics in Roanoke, and Wayne Puckett of the 501st Legion, who discussed how fans of the Star Wars saga can celebrate this special day.

For example, Big Lick Comics is holding a “May the 4th Celebration” from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday with special releases, giveaways, sales, and Star Wars themed treats from the Dessert Bar.
