ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke County Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that took the life of a 58-year-old man on Friday.

It happened on April 29 at approximately 6:36 a.m. Police say that Michael Horton was leaving a Walmart parking lot on Challenger Avenue in Roanoke County when he crossed the entrance and hit a guardrail. Horton was pronounced dead after being brought to the hospital.

A preliminary investigation showed he was not wearing a seatbelt, but alcohol and drugs were not a factor in this crash.

This is an ongoing investigation and no charges are pending.
