ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — First responders were called out Wednesday to a Roanoke County home, where a man got stranded 50 feet in the air while trimming trees in a backyard.

According to Roanoke County Fire and Rescue, just before 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, units from Cave Spring and Clearbrook responded to the 3000 block of View Avenue for a report of a person who was stuck 50 feet up in the bucket of a bucket truck.

When crews arrived at the scene, they learned that the truck’s hydraulic system was inoperable. They acted quickly in the heat, sending up a rope to the man to deliver supplies, like an umbrella for shade and water.

After that, fire officials say they set up a ladder truck in the house’s driveway, climbed up to the top, and escorted the man down the ladder.

First responders evaluated the man, but he reportedly refused to go to the hospital.

The department says the rescue operation took about one hour to complete.
