Roanoke City Councilman Robert Jeffrey Jr. faces new allegations of using embezzled funds for personal expenses

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke City Councilman Robert Jeffrey Jr. is facing new allegations.

According to recent search warrants, Jeffrey allegedly used embezzled funds from his employer, the Northwest Neighborhood Environmental Organization.

The search warrants show he used the funds to pay Roanoke Gas and Appalachian Power.

Investigators have also issued warrants seeking access to Jeffrey’s transactions on Cash App.

According to investigators, Jeffrey made multiple recurring payments to 16 accounts. Now, investigators are attempting to learn where the embezzled funds were sent to and for what purpose.

Jeffrey is accused of embezzling at least $50,000.

He is set to stand trial on Oct. 25.
