ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — It was a big night for Roanoke City Council as they voted on whether to give a rebate to taxpayers regarding personal property tax.

On Tuesday, June 21, the city council voted 5-2 to pass a $5.9 million surplus, with Councilmen Joe Cobb and Bill Bestpitch voting against it.

Taxpayers can expect to receive 17.5% back on their personal property tax after Sept. 1.
